Can also be referred to as language impairment, and is characterised by language that is slow to develop and unusual in its developmental pattern. Problems that may be experienced can include grammatical and semantics (meaning). The issues may be receptive (minimal understanding/comprehension) or expressive (their ability to describe their wants and needs).
